Having Fun with Frivols

I am having fun with "Frivols", or at least the first one.

They are a Moda product and have been fun to collect.  Like I need another UFO to add to the stash!

I have been purchasing the tins each month but have yet to start the quilts or in some cases even take them out of their wrappings! Until today...

I thought it was time.

The background fabric is a white on white that I have had in my stash for quite some time.  It feels good to use it.

This will be a 40 1/4 inch square quilt once finished. Not too large, but large enough for a good sized wall hanging or a baby quilt.

Sixteen blocks to do now that the cutting is done.

Wonder how long it will take? Any guesses?

Blue Spools and Happy Easter 2016

The blue spools are completed - all 54 of them, finally!

It seems as if I have been working on these forever!

They do need to be trimmed, but that is a minor thing for me now that they are all sewn together.
Some are even sewn into pairs, not many, mind you, but still some.

It seems as if I have been working on these forever! Oh, I just said that didn't I?

Well, guess what! It did feel like forever.  But now they are done.

Happy Easter 2016 Everyone!

Psst! Did I tell you my blue spools are finally completed?!

The First Day of Spring 2016

This first day of spring brings a snowstorm to my world and the island.  Not a block buster, but nevertheless, snow.  It is covering the deck and the crocuses which were beginning to pop. Its forecast has caused all of the state's schools to close, even though now everyone is wondering why classes were canceled.

But such is the world of weather forecasting....

Now, on to quilty things....

I am making progress on my little blocks.  I now have ten of the needed thirty-six.

I recently purchased some new items

And unearthed a few more.

Some only need borders; others are cut and ready to sew, while others are still in the planning stages (like that bag of fabric!)

Life is good when you have projects to do!
Have a great Monday everyone! Happy Spring!

Seasons on the Deck or Through the Screen

It is a warm day in the northeastern part of the United States.  Makes us all think about the end of winter and the coming of spring.

The thermometer says 75 degrees although the weather apps say the temps are a bit cooler. Whatever the the temp is, I will take this feeling of warmth.

The water is coming back in the pond and the view is getting better for a deck picture.  But my view through the screen shows a bird on the bench.  I do not want to disturb him and his friends by actually sitting on the deck, so I will sit here and watch the water and the wildlife. The breeze through the screen door is moving the wind chimes. The sounds of spring and the coming summer months are beginning to be heard.

The first crocus to be found on the island.

Ah, can spring really be almost here?
